Use the Preferences dialogue to adjust how the program behaves when adding/modifying home or away talk information.

To learn more about the features of this dialogue, glance down the table below or highlight the control you are interested in by clicking on the screenshot above. Please also remember that context help is available to you by either pressing F1 when the control has focus, or by using the question mark icon at the top right corner of the dialogue.
Perform check for duplicates

This setting affects how the program deals with the OK button on the home/away entries dialogue.  The purpose of this option is to find out if the home speaker, away speaker or home talk number you are assigning has already been assigned either side of the date using the time ranges you specify.

This can be a useful feature, if setup correctly, because it can help you to avoid duplicating an assignment of speaker or talk number within the specified time frame.

If any possible conflicts are found, they are displayed to you.  You have the ability to select this information and copy it into another application for reference, or you can click Yes to accept the details as being correct.  Here is a sample dialogue that could be displayed:

This option is only available when the Perform check for duplicates setting described above is on.

With this option off, the program will check the Home and Away speaker assignments independently.  But when this option is on, it will combine the two together and will look for duplicates of assignment between Home and Away speakers.  Therefore, with this setting on, it is possible that it would detect more duplications.

When this setting is on, the Away Speaker controls becomes disabled and they will change automatically to be the same time range as for the Home Speaker.

Duplicate options

These options are only enabled when the above mentioned setting has been set.  This is where you set the time range for checking for possible duplications of assignment.

For each specified assignment, you can choose what type of time range, and for how long.  For example, the Home Speaker is set to 11 days.  So when setting home talk details, it will check to see if the specified home speaker has already been assigned 11 days either side of your chosen date.

Naturally, these settings shown are not necessarily realistic ones.  Use your discretion with this setting.
